I love a good homemade ice cream. It’s the perfect treat on a hot summer day! For the 4th of July I made some for our BBQ. My family loves Oreo and I saw this recipe on Pinching Your Pennies shared by Coffeyshoppe. Not only does it involves Oreos, but the ice cream is chocolate. It was delicious. I doubled the recipe and it fit in my 4 quart ice cream maker. My husband did think the ice cream was too rich, but I thought it was perfect. However, next time I’m gonna try to use 1 cup cream and 3 cups of half and half. Hopefully, that will reduce the richness for my hubby. I also like to eat my homemade ice cream straight from the maker. I like the soft serve, milk shake like consistency. We did have a little left over that I put in my freezer. I had some yesterday it it was great that way too. If you want some more great homemade ice cream recipes I also have my other favorites on here: blueberry cheesecake, sweet cream, orange-pineapple, and cream cheese.

Double Chocolate Crunch Ice Cream

2 c. whipping cream
2 c. half and half
1 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 ½ tsp. vanilla
1 pkg (3 ¾ oz.) chocolate instant pudding
¼ c. chocolate syrup
10 chocolate sandwich cookies (I used Oreos)

Mix all ingredients in freezer can except cookies. Stir until sugar and pudding are dissolved. Crush 4 cookies and add to mixture in can. Churn-freeze until semi-frozen. Crush remaining cookies and add to ice cream. Churn-freeze.
